A Good Breakfast
It is important to start the day with a good breakfast, yes of course it is, and this makes sense. This is not a large intellectual leap for even the most reluctant scholar. You’ve been sleeping for hours with no fuel (because that’s really what food is isn’t it?) and you awake needing to recharge depleted resources that your body critically requires to operate. Your mind and metabolism have been slowed down while sleeping and they both need a boost to carry out your physical and mental imperatives for the day.
When considered for even the briefest of times, it seems almost ludicrous to skip breakfast. Business, the number one reason cited for skipping the meal, is the worst possible excuse as the more you have to do, the more you need breakfast and the energy that it provides.
Then why do positive, smart and even educated people regularly miss this meal? Simple forest and trees perhaps, are we are so consumed with the immediate that we forget common sense?
Maybe business is not just an excuse; maybe this one time the excuse is the truth. Life is busier now that it has ever been. Stopping and smelling roses is not a potent enough remedy. Greeting cards reminding us of the gift that life is may be effective, but in our haste we of course do not have time to read them. There is no universally applicable cure for business, it is our reality.
Embrace busyness, all signs point to the fact that it will be with us for quite a while. At the same time however, be smart and follow these important steps to make sure you do not become a helpless victim of your own schedule:
1. Eat a healthy breakfast
2. Kiss you loved ones daily
3. Exercise 20 minutes a day
4. Sing in the shower
5. Think before speaking
6. Look both ways before crossing the street
7. Eat your vegetables
8. Wash behind your ears
9. Floss
Well, at least eat a good breakfast.
